Parking can be frustrating

Cyclists circle the block never knowing if there's a free, secure rack, and the spot they know is often gone by the time they arrive. Enough doubt to make it a frustrating experience.

[ The solution ]

Create certainty before you go

A live, map-first app you can read in two seconds. Big high contrast type, oversized tap targets, bright status colours and instant feedback. Keeping the experience quick and effortless.

Make bike rides even better

My role
UX/UI design, user interviews, journey mapping, and interaction design end to end.

Key UX decisions
A map-first interface so riders see racks in real-time. Oversized touch targets for safe interaction while moving. Bright, confident status colours to communicate at a glance. Large, legible typography for glanceability, and a ruthlessly simple two-tap core flow. Every interaction was designed to work in seconds, with eyes half on the road.

Signature feature

Hold the spot while you ride

The hardest problem in bike parking isn't finding a free rack- it's that the free rack you spotted is gone by the time you get there.

Grip lets you reserve a spot for a few minutes before you set off. A live sensor holds it just for you, with a countdown so you know exactly how long you've got. Ride over, lock up, done - no circling the block, no nasty surprise.

  • 01Tap Hold on any spot to lock it for 5 minutes
  • 02A live countdown shows your remaining hold time
  • 03If a rack ever fills, Grip instantly routes you to the next
